Lisa Lyn Swisher

Beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend

Lisa came into this world on April 22, 1984 in Sheridan, Wyoming. It was Easter Sunday.  Her style was reflected even in birth as she decided  not to wait for the doctor to arrive at  her birth.  The delivering Doctor had caught so much flack for going home and not making it back for Lisa's sister Laura's birth that he stayed in the hospital. He checked on Lisa's mother and then made his way to the doctor's lounge in the hospital. He was not able to make it back to the room before Lisa made her debut into this world. Lisa was a fighter even then, being delivered with the cord wrapped around her neck and almost blue, she was not going to let that keep her from meeting her family. At that time her family consisted of two big sisters, Emma and Laura along with two big brothers, Jacob and Calvin.  Her competition for the spotlight and camera began from the moment she arrived.  Before she hardly got settled in first home in Sheridan she had moved into two more homes in Sheridan.

Lisa started walking at 10 months as she was in a hurry to keep up with her big brothers and sisters, and to keep them from stepping on her fingers. Not much slowed her down from that point. Although, most of you would probably never think of Lisa as one who was slow to talk either, she didn't start talking until she was 3 years old. The delay was caused mostly due to her big brothers and sisters saying everything for her and waiting on her hand and foot. She would grunt and she would get everything she might need.

After her first birthday we moved to St. Paul, Minnesota.  In less than two short years Lisa moved again to Lakewood, Colorado.  She started school at Lasley Elementary which was just a block and a half from home.  Most days this wasn’t a problem unless she got to talking with her friends while .  Once, she over did the talking while walking home and somehow got 5 blocks from home and hopelessly lost.

In late 1991, family tragedy and sadness came with Dad and Mom splitting up.  This created sadness and happiness in various stages over the ensuing years.  Sadness  over losing one family but happiness in gaining so much more family.  It started in 1992 as she gained a new family in Arvada Covenant Church who helped and nurtured her through  Sunday School, ACKC, Covenant Heights, TWIX, Jr. & Sr. High Youth Groups and in many other ways.

To start second grade (in 1991) Lisa family extended to the Wooden Shoe (day care) and Zerger Elementary.  To start school Lisa had moved again (1993) to Walnut Creek and started 4th Grade at Lukas Elementary School.

In March 1994 she gained a new dad, grandparents, uncle, aunt and cousins.  These also became significant people in her life, spending time at Castle Rock and especially at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska.

The pressure of Jr. High started at Mandalay Jr. High in 1996.  Where she played clarinet for 1 year in the band.

In August 1998, she gained a new mother, sister, brother, 2 more sets of  grandparents, 2 new aunts and 4 more cousins.  While this  became a very happy addition to her family it came with strings  - such as now having to share one bathroom with two teenage sisters, instead of just one; yet she also had two more closets of clothes to raid.   In addition,  a new school as she now started high school at Arvada West.  While in high school she also attended Warren Tech allowing her to compete her cosmetology degree prior to graduation  from high school.  Now she was licensed to become beautiful and share her talents with others.

Continuing her tradition she added more members to her family in July 2002 when she joined the Marine Corp.  While in the Marines she was stationed at Paris Island, South Carolina, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Okinawa, Japan.

In July of 2006 she returned home to Arvada after a honorable discharge following four years of service to our country.  After a few months of trying to decide what to do with her future, she moved to Aurora and started working at Agilent Technologies.  Just last week she started taking classes at Aurora Community College.  Ultimately she had indicated she would like go get into some area of criminal justice but didn’t know exactly what area.

Lisa was always there for anyone she came into contact with, she was full energy, life, humor, and endless love and friendship.  Thankfully, God created  cell phones, text messaging and emails to be  to use to the fullest by her.  Now she is in a place where electronics aren’t needed to communicate,  where she can have as many pairs of  shoes as she wishes; her hair, makeup and nails will always be perfect.
